Best Sports Blogs

For those that love sports, it can be important to find the right sports blogs to keep up with and get the latest news stories. Most of us already have our favorite websites already discovered, but here are some other suggestions. These may be ones you already know so in that case, just ignore me! I just thought it’d be a good topic to discuss here and share some of the sites that I get a lot of my personal sports coverage from. If you can think of any other blogs I missed, be sure to let me know!

Bleacher Report

This is a good tool for having some of the best and most unique lists that focus on some of the hottest topics and players in every sport. It also has specific news and you can add your favorite teams and get the latest updates sent straight to your phone so you never miss out on any stories.

Grantland

Probably my personal favorite because it manages to talk about the latest news in sports but it also has pop culture news too. I think it does a great job at being well rounded and not being strictly sports. So if you’re a person that likes hearing stories and interviews about the latest movies and TV shows, definitely check this one out if you aren’t already. I find myself constantly checking this website because it’s such a great source.

SB Nation

This is another one that does a good job at focusing on particular sports and you can pick your favorites. It also has specific blogs for different teams which I find really cool and helpful. This is definitely a good source and it also has scores which is always a good source if you’re on the go and can’t watch a game.

ESPN

Okay this one is super obvious. However, it’s also essential when you’re talking about websites that cover sports. This is the obvious source for the latest scores and news going on in the sports world. Sometimes it can be annoying when certain stories that you want to read are for ESPN Insider users only. That’s why you should also take advantage of some of these other blogs that cover pretty much the same information except maybe with just slighter different points of view.

The Movie Unbroken and What It Means To Me

thBBCR9RVF

I found the movie Unbroken to be an inspirational one to say the least. I haven’t read the book and I’m the type that absolutely hates to see a movie before I read the book. I was still familiar with Louis Zamperini’s story and so I went ahead and saw the movie. One of my favorite parts, and I’m not sure how accurate it is, was when Louis changed his attitude. He was a kid that constantly in fights due to the fact that he was different from the other boys. He believed the lies the boys told him, that he wasn’t good enough to do anything. Louis’s brother Pete told him that he could do anything that he wanted to do and encouraged him to use his quick speed to use by joining the track team. Pete pushed him to keep going harder and harder, even calling him mean names from the sidelines as Louis was running in races.

I think this story about his childhood is important because it shows his change of attitude. It shows that you don’t have to accept being a negative person who refuses to evolve, you can change your attitude. Changing your attitude depends upon changing your state of mind and the way that you view yourself and the ones around you. You can’t just convince yourself that you’re not important and that everyone is against you. You have to motivate yourself and believe in your abilities.

A motto that Louis uses throughout the hardships he endures in his life is something that Pete told him, “If you can take it, you can make it.” This is a beautiful and optimistic take on life and it can make things easier to face. Louis refused being a bitter person who did nothing with his life and being a more hopeful and happy person was what got him through being stuck on a boat for 47 days at sea then the months of being held at a Japanese POW camp.

In the end, Louis decided to get rid of all bitterness and forgive. It took him awhile but he eventually let go and became a better person because of it. Louis Zamperini has a story about life, love, survival, change, bitterness, rage, and also forgiveness. Once he accepted Christ as his savior, he forgave all of the Japanese men who held him captive. Some of which were amazed with Zamperini’s faith and were then led to accept Christ as well. Above all, this movie shows that change is inevitable but it’s also something positive if we allow it to be that way.

Serial Podcast Link Roundup

Serial has become an internet phenomenon since it was released earlier this fall. As a fan of the podcast since the beginning, it’s been hard for me not to share my opinions about the case. I’ve decided to provide my own sort of masterpost of links that I’ve found related to different aspects of the case. Some of these sources were linked up on Reddit, while others I discovered while searching on Google.

Stories about Jay:

Reddit pretty much exploded when The Intercept posted the first interview with Jay, the key witness who’s testimony was the only evidence that put Adnan behind bars for life. Note: Part two should be posted later on today which I will add to the list.

Rabia Chaudry – family friend who first brought the case to Sarah Koenig.

She keeps the blog “Split The Moon” where she frequently blogs about Adnan and his case. It’d be difficult to list all of them, I just listed several that provide a lot of interesting information.

There’s tons and tons more I could post but I decided to stay away from the specific evidence that was in the case. These are just some articles that example the general aspect of the case and the hype surrounding the podcast itself. This will be updated some, let me know if I’ve left any imperative links off.
