This is my pregame playlist that I made. This playlist has many songs from genres like pop, rock, R&B, punk, rap, and a few more that are thrown in there. I’m sure everyone has a different playlist to pump them up from playing a game, sport, giving a speech, and whatever else you might be getting ready to do. So without further ado, here’s my playlist for you guys!
Here’s a mix of several generations to get your Spring Break playlist started.
I’m going to make a complete playlist sometime soon but here’s some of my favorite albums to just turn up all the way and dance around to. You can listen while driving around with your friends or just listening by yourself! Whatever you choose to do, these are the albums you should do it to.
Charli XCX- Sucker
This album is best listened to while taking a road trip with your best friends or dancing around your room with your friends. It’s best to listen to this while surrounded by people you care about because it’s just so much more fun that way. “Break The Rules” is the fun and danceable skipping class anthem you can’t help but love. Charli XCX just puts out hit after hit and there’s not a skippable song on this album!
Ariana Grande- My Everything
This album put out by former Broadway star and vocal powerhouse Ariana Grande doesn’t disappoint. Not all of these songs are upbeat, some are gorgeous ballads that really showcase her voice. The sound here reminds us of a throwback to the 90’s. She has a vintage style to her but it never gets old. The highlight songs are definitely “Problem” and “Bang Bang.” These are also the biggest and most pop sounding songs but it can be fun to just let all your problems go and dance to pop music.
One Direction- Midnight Memories
I know, I know you guys probably think I’ve lost my mind by putting this on the list. However, I can’t resist these five British (And one Irish) boys. This isn’t there most recent album, Four is but I prefer Midnight Memories. Largely due to the fact that this album is filled with songs that you can just sing to the top of your lungs. Four doesn’t really have any of those type of songs. The title track of Midnight Memories is a fun song to listen with at a sleepover with your best friend while you just talk and reflect on all the good times. “Happily” and “Best Song Ever” are two more songs that I can’t help but love. As is “Little Black Dress” and “Diana.” I’m also a big fan of the song “Alive,” which is on the deluxe edition of the album. Whether just the name of the band makes you cringe or swoon, this is a great album to jam to.
Haim- Days Are Gone
Talk about sister power, these three sisters are the coolest. They are frequently compared to the ’70s classic rock band Fleetwood Mac. However, I think they’ve created their own sound for this new generation. Every song is filled with awesome catchy lyrics and the music is just unbelievably amazing. It’s pretty much impossible not to be charmed by the song “The Wire,” or for that matter, any song by the trio. The album is stacked with track after track of songs that you’re bound to love and share with others.
Vampire Weekend- Modern Vampires of the City
Vampire Weekend is a small town indie band that reached an unpredictable amount of success. Lead singer Ezra Koenig and company has a unique sound that sets them apart. “Ya Hey” is definitely one of my favorite tracks off of the album, but “Diane Young” is at a close second. Part of the bands charm is that they don’t release ballad after ballad, instead they have lots of songs with funky and cool beats. How can you not love them?
Here are some songs for those of you that may be going somewhere else over spring break. Even if you aren’t going anywhere, here are some songs about places you might rather be. These are locations all over the world that left a mark on these artists that felt inspired to sing about these various locations. They may or may not call these places home but you can still see the visuals described as you listen to these songs today.
Some of the sweetest and most romantic songs that talk about when you first fall in love with another person. That time is such a magical one and I feel like these songs show that in a beautiful way. Some of the artists included are: Ed Sheeran, Beyonce, and some others as well! I love all of these songs no matter if I’m falling in love or just want to listen to some good music. Regardless of which of these categories you fall into, I hope you enjoy these songs!

Ed Sheeran puts things really beautifully and lovely. On the other hand, if you mess him over, he’ll cut you with beautiful but mean lyrics. These are some of my favorite ones. Some of them aren’t all about love, some are about the music industry and stuff like that. The others are about generally dealing with a breakup. No matter what it’s about, if Ed Sheeran is just generally messed over, he’ll write a song about it and it’ll be a really amazing song.
Favorite Lyric: “And I never saw him as a threat until you disappeared with him to have sex. It’s not like we were both on tour, we were staying at the same hotel floor. And I wasn’t looking for a promise or commitment, but it was never just fun and I thought you were different.”
You Need Me, I Don’t Need You
Favorite Lyric: “I’m not you, no that would be disastrous. Let me sing and do my thing and move to greener pastures.”
Take It Back
Favorite Lyric: “I’ve never had an enemy except the NME. But I’ll be selling twice as many copies as their magazines’ll ever be.”
Favorite Lyric: “I don’t get waves of missing you anymore, they’re more like tsunami tides in my eyes.”
Favorite Lyric: “Take words out of my mouth just from breathing, replace with phrases like when you leaving me?”
Favorite Lyric: “You can fit me inside the necklace you bought when you were sixteen. Next to your heartbeat where I should be.”
Favorite Lyric: “And I thrown it all away, watched you fall into his arms again.”
Favorite Lyric: “I listen to sad songs, singing about love. And where it goes wrong.”
Ed Sheeran has become one of the biggest pop stars. The most striking thing about his music for me are his songs about love. The way he talks about the subject is just so creative and beautiful. These are some of his best love songs and the best lyrics from those songs.
Best Lyric: “My three words have two meanings and there’s one thing on my mind: it’s all for you.”
Wake Me Up
Best Lyric: “And I know you love Shrek because we watched it 12 times, and maybe you’re hoping for a fairytale too.”
I know that One Direction technically sang that one but Ed wrote the lyrics when he was 13 about a girl he liked. I just think the lyrics are so precious and really meaningful.
Best Lyric: “You’ll never love yourself half as much as I love you.”
Thinking Out Loud
Best Lyric: “And, darling, I will be loving you ’til we’re 70. And, baby, my heart could still fall as hard at 23.”
All Of The Stars
Best Lyric: “You’re the song my heart is beating to.”
Best Lyric: “With your body next to mine, our hearts will beat as one. And we’re set alight, we’re afire love.”
Best Lyric: “And with a feeling I’ll forget, I’m in love now. So kiss me like you want to be loved. This feels like falling in love.”
Some people obviously missed the message when they planned their wedding and end up playing some songs that just should be avoided at wedding. I mean, it’s your day and you can pick what you want. It just really bothers me when people pick breakup songs as wedding songs. Like what are you trying to say about your marriage?
Skinny Love by Bon Iver
I don’t care if you play the Birdy cover version or not, the lyrics are still the same. They tell a story about a couple that CAN’T be together. He’s letting his lover go and that’s what the song is about. The love has died out, it’s a skinny love, there’s no nourishment left of it. Why would you want to play a depressing song like that at your wedding? It just makes me all kinds of different shades of sad.
Every Breath You Take by The Police
This is the definition of a stalker song that Sting wrote about his ex wife. Goodbye, why would you want to play that song at your wedding?
I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston
Yeah, it’s one of the most beautiful songs of all time but it’s also one of the most depressing.
Gold Digger by Kanye West
It’s just a big red flag if this is played at your wedding. Even if it’s in an ironic way, it just looks bad for you and your husband.
Creep by Radiohead
A song that big Radiohead fans might want played but let’s not. It’s another of those gut wrenching songs that absolutely is out of place at a wedding.
Tears In Heaven by Eric Clapton
It’s a song about a dead child. Let’s just not play this at weddings EVER okay? The song has a lot of feelings as it is and it just feels like the biggest sin to play it at a wedding.
I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For by U2
Well, why are you getting married then?
Get Low by Lil Jon
It’s not exactly the classiest song in the world.
Who Let The Dogs Out by Baha Men
Playing this song just gives me the vibe that you’re referring to the bride as a dog which just feels wrong on so many levels.
Hey Ya by Outkast
Yeah, it’s a fun track in theory. But the lyrics are about divorce and just the general concept of love not lasting. That’s sending some major negative vibes for the newlyweds.
Graduating from high school is one of the first of many big changes in any teenagers life. These songs capture the classic, cheesy, and pure sentiment of a high school graduation. This is more or less a list since no explanation is really needed for each of these.
